Community in a Time of Distance: Our Covid-19 Response
First, we want to say that we are so grateful to be a Community. Supporting one another through difficult times and knowing that we’re here to catch each other when we fall has been part of our mission from the beginning, and this is no exception. During this time, our priority is to ensure that our residents and program participants know that they are safe, they are supported, and they are not alone. We continue to provide services 24 hours a day, and that will not change. In addition to ensuring that all basic needs are met, we are providing the emotional support needed to help everyone get through this time of isolation. We’re not *in* the community right now, but we’re *a* Community.
Secondly, we are here not only for our residents and program participants, but also for our Emmaus team. We recognize that our DSPs are on the front lines of this crisis, providing essential services while also navigating all the challenges in their personal lives, and we have their backs. Emmaus is implementing extensive safety and hygiene practices to reduce exposure for everyone, we’re practicing social distancing, we are closely following all guidelines from the CDC and our government and oversight entities, and we have developed emergency back-up plans to address all the potential challenges we may face as a service provider. We’re extending our full support to our DSPs and staff members during this time, as new situations arise.
Lastly, we want you to know how much we appreciate the part you play in our Community. So many of you have reached out to check on us and ask how you can help. We are keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers as we all get through this together! Stay safe and well, and we look forward to seeing you again when the time is right!
