TITLE:  Full Time Senior Accountant (non-exempt)

PRIMARY LOCATION:  South Side Office

PRIMARY SCHEDULE:  Monday thru Friday 8AM to 4PM

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

STARTING SALARY:  Commensurate with experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and a minimum of three years of accounting experience
  • Nonprofit experience is preferred
  • Analytical with strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills – Excel
  • Experience with QuickBooks a plus
  • Experience with Social Security / Organizational Representative Payee a plus
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records a plus – Therap
  • Act 34 clearance & FBI clearance

JOB DESCRIPTION:

General

  • Willingness to carry out the mission and support the values of the Emmaus Community
  • Ensure appropriate internal controls and financial procedures are in place to mitigate risk or fraud, waste and abuse of funds
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions, including compliance with GAAP, DPW regulations and internal policies
  • Assist in preparation of information for external auditors/investigators
  • Responsible for carrying out other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Accounting

  • Assist in maintenance of adequate and accurate financial records
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports
  • Assist in management of restricted grants, as needed
  • Approve weekly accounts payable, including petty cash and reimbursement requests
  • Complete monthly reconciliation of business credit card expenditures
  • Maintain vendor files, including obtaining W-9s and preparing 1099s, as required
  • Prepare one time and recurring journal entries
  • Oversee month end closing processes

Billing Client Services

  • Oversee billing for ODP and private client services and work toward resolution of billing issues
  • Monitor client authorizations during the fiscal year and work with the appropriate entities to make necessary changes and corrections
  • Provide billing/attendance support to Program, including minor technical support of billing software and processes
  • Record client service income in accounting system and maintain accurate billing records

Client Accounts

  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all Client financial functions, including compliance with all applicable waivers and quality management reviews
  • Provide oversight and backup of all Client finance functions and processes
  • Review monthly registers and assist with maintenance of accurate financial records
  • Ensure accurate receipts/support exist for all client expenditures, as required
  • Review and approve bank reconciliations of all personal and rep payee bank accounts and work toward resolution of any inconsistencies
  • Ensure, through supervisory oversight, timely filing of external filings (CAO, SSA, etc.)
  • Monitor client accounts and ensure client funds are within regulatory limits

As a Direct Support Professional, you will learn to:

-Enter into respectful and meaningful relationships with people with intellectual disabilities

-Do menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation (including special diets)
Administer medication

-Assist with medical appointments and personal hygiene

-Help develop, carry out, and document goals and implement Individual Support Plans

-Work as a team member, follow directions, and attend staff meetings as required

-Participate in community celebrations such as birthday parties and holidays

-Maintain compliance with all State and County mandated regulations

-Plan and provide residents with opportunities for socialization and recreation both at home and in the community

-Assist residents with money management, and follow strict policies on safeguarding client and agency funds

-Support the values of the Emmaus Community

Qualifications:

-College students and graduates encouraged (minimum requirement of HS diploma or GED)
-Driver’s License
-Act 34 clearances & FBI clearance
-Physical with Mantoux prior to date of hire
-Experience is helpful, but not required; training is provided
